We need a house sitter

South West - Devon

Roy and Clare

Our home is a small bungalow in a large garden area with peep views of Dartmoor and the sea - at the top of a hill in a village on the outskirts of Newton Abbot. Two double bedrooms and a single bathroom. Large kitchen/diner, lounge and front conservatory with views. There is good broadband and wifi, Sky Q with Sports. We envisage sitters staying in our home but we do have ample private parking. There is a proper BBQ (charcoal!) with supplies to be used and a selection of outside seating/lounging options. Our dogs ( that sleep in the kitchen) will be away with us so the house and garden are dog-friendly if you wish to bring your own.
We have two chickens with a coop inside a secure run and they need a little daily attention - checking feed/water/straw, regular daily cleaning and egg collection (for the sitters). This amounts to about 15/20 minutes in a morning and closing up the run at night. They can free-range in the day if you are about. A small vegetable garden and various plant pots may need watering according to the prevailing weather. We will be away within the UK and could be reached at any time if needed.
In order to meet - and as we leave in the early hours of July 3rd - we hope Sitters could eat with us on the 2nd and we would book them into a nearby Premier Inn for that night.
Our homeward journey is somewhat unpredictable - we could arrive home in the early hours of the 25th so sitters could leave on the 24th if that suited your schedule.

It was a great privilege to housesit for Roy and Clare. They are an extremely well organized couple with great attention to detail. We arrived to an immaculate home. They both go to great lengths to make one's stay as comfortable as possible. They are fully aware of the needs of housesitters. Delightful stay with two hens in a beautiful home in Devon. Morag and Eilidh are very easy to look after and friendly as well. When sitting on a bench in the garden they came around and sat with us. Roy and Clare’s home is lovely, great view from the garden, quiet surroundings, convenient public transport nearby. We enjoyed this sit v much and very thankful for their generous hospitality.

Roy and Clare were great hosts throughout. The placement was set up well in advance which allowed for all the practicalities to be communicated and agreed prior to our arrival. As well as detailed written information Roy and Clare arranged for us to spend time with them to familiarise ourselves with the house, garden and hens and to raise any last minute issues prior to their departure.
