We need a house sitter

South East - West Sussex

Looking for someone(s) to care for my house and animals whilst I'm in New Zealand for approx 4 weeks around April/May (dates approx - havent booked flights yet!). They would need to be responsible and experienced/able for 2 dogs & 2 ponies. My routine is to feed all the animals at home as soon as I get up and then walk the dogs through the fields/down the river path or along the beach to feed the ponies whose field is by the beach (10/15 minute walk each way). The ponies' poo needs to be picked up once a day - sorry! The dogs can be left for up to 4 hours max during the day. There is someone who can help out for a day/one weekend so you can have a break to explore. I would get someone to come in and do the garden, but the house would need to be kept clean and tidy. Cooking is on an Aga. I'm willing to put someone on my car (land-rover) insurance if they have a clean licence and full insurance. No smokers please. Please ask for more info.

This was an excellent sit! Gill was so kind and truly couldn't do enough for me, even loaning me her best wellies for the walk on the trails to the ponies 😂 The house is gorgeous, charming and thatched (per piccies) yet surprisingly large and comfortable. The Aga is an unexpected dream to cook on. Don't be intimidated - I'm now a firm convert. Lucy is the grand dame of the household, elegant, refined, well-behaved. We really enjoyed housesitting for Gill. The house is beautiful and so is the garden (even though we didn't get much use of it, as it was winter). We loved cooking on the AGA and working in the warm kitchen. Tilly and Lucy, the dogs, Bailey, the cat, Sonny and Zebedee, the ponies, were mostly cooperative and fun to be around. Having fresh eggs every morning from the chickens was a nice extra. Our favourite bit of the sit was talking the dogs for long walks along the beach. The area is peaceful ... MORE
