Bob and Cynthia are semi-retired Floridians who love to travel and care for pets.
We started staying in people's homes more than 20 years ago as members of a home-exchange group. We exchanged homes with members in Ireland, Germany and Belgium. All were pleased with how clean we left their homes.
Last summer, we joined Housesitters UK and had two wonderful sits in England. Our first was for a black lab and a beagle. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay, especially our long twice daily walks with the dogs. At our second sit, we cared for a cat. Both pet owners gave us excellent reviews, which you can see on our review page.
Bob and I also have house-sat for friends here in the US and in Costa Rica. In Costa Rica, we cared for three dogs and two cats. Our host was so happy with our service that he had us pet-sit twice for several weeks each time.
We also have done stints as Workaway volunteers at hosts' homes in France and Spain. Our chores at a farm in France included feeding goats, chickens, fish and guinea pigs and cleaning the chicken coop and guinea-pig cages.
As you can see, we love to combine travel with pet-sitting. We're excited about our upcoming visit to the UK and hope to make it extra special by caring for pets while we're there.

I met the Washams back in 2002 through my running club. I was new to the area and they made me feel very welcome, I have been friends with Cynthia and Bob ever since. They are the most honest and trusting people I know. They have pet sat for me numerous times and I wouldn't hesitate for them to house sit for me again.

I highly recommend Bob and Cynthia Washam to anyone looking for a house- and pet-sitter. For six weeks in the fall of 2017, they stayed at the house my wife and I own in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica and cared for our three dogs and two cats. Bob was the first person who came to mind when I decided to enlist a sitter. I’ve known him more than 40 years and can’t imagine anyone more honest and reliable.
He and Cynthia surpassed my expectations by keeping the house immaculate, taking excellent care of the pets and promptly notifying me of any concerns. Bob called to let me know when one of the dogs suffered a minor injury, for example, and when excessive rainfall and a malfunctioning chlorinator turned the pool water green.
Their fortitude was put to the test when a tropical storm knocked out power for two days and blew a tree down across the driveway. Bob went to the neighbor, borrowed a handsaw and cut off enough branches for a car to get around the fallen tree. The storm delayed my homecoming by four days. That shortened Bob and Cynthia’s visit to neighboring Nicaragua, but they stayed on without complaint.

Bob and Cynthia are organized, reliable, self-sufficient, clean and tidy, and offered excellent pet care for our beloved dogs, Emma and Pancho. From the first interaction to the last one, communication was excellent and smooth. They arrived early and adjusted to our schedule. They are sweet, friendly, and attentive. We got daily updates and pictures of our doggies! On our return our home looked exactly the same way we left it or even better. The sheets were washed and the bed was made. Not so mention, the dogs were happy, peaceful and loving, which says a lot about the care Cynthia and Bob provided. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a stress-free time away!
