We need a house sitter

East Midlands - Lincolnshire

Debbie

I'm looking for mature and experienced house and pet-sitter(s) with a car (note we dont have many charging points in the area).
The location is a semi-detached cottage in a small village in prime Tennyson country in the rural, hilly Lincolnshire Wolds, being 1/4 mile from his birthplace. Its a beautiful, unspoiled and little known area. We're 6 miles from the nearest market town of Horncastle. where the nearest shops are.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms (one is now my workroom so not in use as a bedroom), there is off-road parking and all mod-cons (except no microwave or dishwasher). I have a 4-g router internet connection which is ample.
I would prefer to have non-smokers. There are no real-duties other than looking after my 4-year old dog Meg who is an English Cocker Spaniel. .
I have a Shepherds Hut at the end of the garden, which I rent out via airbnb when I'm home. It is also available (for free) for housesitters around my departure/return dates.
There are great walking paths and bridlepaths at every corner of the village (Wellies/good walking boots are a must - it can be very muddy when wet).
There are a couple of good pubs a few miles away. And supermarkets/local independent shops within a 15 min drive.
Lincoln is approx 35 mins by car if you need retail therapy or cultural pursuits, and the east coast is approx 30 mins in the other direction if you fancy a good beach walk. Both are served by an hourly bus (does require a 40 minute walk along a bridlepath to get to the bus)! Boston is 30 mins to the south. There are several market towns nearby (Horncastle, Spilsby, Alford, Louth)
Lincolnshire is not all flat as most people think Lincolnshire is - well come and you will discover!
Meg is a very sweet dog, very affectionate. She's also very 'enthousiastic' about just about everything and there's not a day goes by that she doesn't make me laugh!
Who can help?! Please email me for a first form of contact. Thank you.

We had a lovely week surrounded by beautiful countryside. Communication with Debbie was excellent throughout and she is a very generous host. The gorgeous, energetic and enthusiastic Meg was our constant companion on long walks and on our days out.

STEVE & GILL (Apr 2024 - 1 week)
It was a pleasure to do a sit for Debbie – she was very welcoming and provided plenty of information about the house and her dog, Meg. Meg is lovely; very gentle, but also great fun. The house is in a wonderful location, surrounded by field, hills and woodlands. It is a very quiet, idyllic place. Overall, it was a great house-sitting experience, and I would gladly return to sit again.

ADAM (Jan 2025 - 1 night)
Debbie was such a generous and helpful hostess, despite having such a busy life she was always contactable. Meg is a sweet little dog, likes her toys, and has a beautiful nature. Even her snore is fun to listen to. Plenty of walks on the doorstep in this part of Lincolnshire and Debbie's garden has lots of bird life.

ANN (Nov 2024 - 6 nights)
Had a great time. Everything was easy accessible and communication was excellent. Also had One night in Shepherds Hut which is immaculate and a great experience. Meg was my shadow and helper especially in the Garden. Would love to come back.

ROBERT (Oct 2024 - 1 week 1 night)
Aaw thank you so much for all you've done! I do hope you can come back! You're very welcome.
If peace and quiet are what you want, this is the sit for you, once Meg has calmed down. She was very excited to see a new human! Debbie left everything that would make my sit comfortable, and my days out with Meg were a delight. She is a perfect car passenger, liked the beach, loved most other dogs, and looked for me every time I left the room. Highly recommended.

MARIE-JOSÈPHE (Apr 2024 - 5 nights)
Staying at Debbie’s, in the glorious Lincolnshire Wolds, was an absolute delight. Debbie went to great lengths to ensure I felt welcome, comfortable, and equipped with plenty of information to help me explore the locality. Meg – the enthusiastic and wonderfully affectionate Cocker Spaniel in residence – was a joy to look after. I was truly sad to leave her at the end of my stay. We had enjoyed many walks together, both in the local, profoundly peaceful, countryside and also on the great ... MORE

PAUL (Nov 2023 - 2 weeks 2 nights)
It was a pleasure to housesit at Debbie’s cottage and look after Meg, her very sweet and enthusiastic spaniel. The area where Debbie lives is so peaceful, with lots of wildlife. The night skies are stunning, with no light pollution. There are plenty of footpaths and bridleways to walk with Meg. Debbie was very welcoming and gave me great instructions and a map and leaflets, which I appreciated. I was sad to leave!

FIONA (Mar 2023 - 1 week)
Thank you for that. Very pleased to have met you. Best wishes.
