We need a house sitter

South East - Oxfordshire

liz

Escape to the country! Lovely large detached house with a beautiful garden in idyllic village just 10 miles to Oxford and near the Cotswolds. 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, huge kitchen, garden gym/office. Village has the 4th smallest pub in the UK ( plus 2 others) local Coop ( open 7am - 11pm) . We have 2 active Labradors ( 9 and 5 years old ), who need an hours walk in the morning and another walk in the afternoon. Our Siamese cat is 10 and has recently gone blind, he loves being made a fuss of and is the boss of our home, You need to ensure he doesn't get out of the front door as then we will become lost, but he knows how to let himself into the garden. We love inviting sitters into our home and have had wonderful experiences over the many years we have used this site, however if you are a professional sitter requiring a day rate this isn't the sit for you . Look forward to welcoming you into our home, we will cook you supper on the first night so you have time to look around and then we will leave early doors the next morning.

Lovely housesit with adorable animals! All very friendly and welcoming. Both dogs were always ecstatic when I appeared and Samson the cat loved having a cuddle. Lovely to have treats left for me from John and liz. The bath oil and cake were amazing. Highly recommend.

LORRAINE (Jul 2024 - 2 weeks 1 night)
We absolutely loved our time in Steventon! Liz and John made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped through the door and were both excellent to communicate with. Sampson, Bolly and Moet were absolutely delightful and we miss them already! Bolly and Moet are two of the most well trained dogs we’ve come across. We hope we’ll get the chance to come back to the lovely Steventon and say “hi” to everybody again.

SAMANTHA & MATTHEW (Mar 2024 - 3 weeks)
We arrived to a very warm welcome form Liz and John after great communication prior with full details of what was required from us during our stay. We enjoyed walking Bolly and Moët in the beautiful countryside form the doorstep. They are off the lead mainly and love to chase a ball Sampson the Siamese is no trouble and enjoys a cuddle on your lap at the end of the day. The kitchen is well equipped and you will have everything you need to cook lovely meals. There is so much to see and do nearby ... MORE

FIONA (Mar 2023 - 1 week 1 day)
Brilliant!!! Once again, a thoroughly enjoyed sit with great hosts in John and Liz and everything a soul like me could want from the exchange. The house is a lovely space inside and out and perfectly located both opposite the village allotments (homegrown raspberries anyone ) and with fab walks from the proverbial doorstep. The animals are a pure joy, I don't use the expression flippantly. Moet and Bolly are Labrador gems and we had an absolute blast. Big walks, swimming daily, hugs, ... MORE

GREG (Aug 2022 - 2 weeks 1 day)
We had a fantastic time looking after Bolly and Moët (the dogs are absolutely adorable!). We had daily walks in the beautiful countryside of Oxfordshire. The walk across the field to the pub in East Hendred on a warm summer evening was particularly memorable. Sampson (the cat) kept us up to date with the local news. He is very talkative early in the morning after his night watch patrol around the village. The delicious cake and wine left by Liz and John ( the owners) was very much ... MORE

NADIA (Jul 2022 - 1 week 4 days)
We loved looking after Bolla and Moet, two very energetic and affectionate girl dogs. They're stronger than they look but gentle as anything. Sampson is very vocal and got one very will with our son. The chickens were easy to look after and real characters. There were plenty of lovely places to walk, and quite a few fun interesting scarecrow figures out and about. The house was lovely, communication was good and we had a really fab time.

VICKY (May 2022 - 3 days)
I had a lovely weekend stay at Liz and John's house, looking after Moet, Bolly & Sampson the cat. The house was beautiful and very comfortable, and Liz and John both made me feel extremely welcome. Their communication was thoughtful and thorough, with lots of details of good places to walk the dogs. The dogs themselves were a delight - affectionate and well-behaved. We had a lovely restful weekend together enjoying the autumn sun.

LORNA (Sep 2019 - 2 days)
Great place to house sit. The house was amazing nice and large and open plan which allowed for the sun to flow nicely into the living areas. I was lucky enough to spend time in the allotment and have fresh berries and vegetables every day. Bolly is a beautiful dog and loved her walks, she really appreciated long walls which was great as I was able to take her for walks on the ridgeway. Samsung the cat was very cuddly and loved lots of attention. Would love to house sit again but if I ... MORE

No rating Liz , John and Charlie made us very welcome in their large, comfortable house. We enjoyed a meal with them and were shown the pets routines which is very important to all involved for a pleasant, stress free stay..The pets -Bolly the dog and Sampson the cat (and the chickens!)were a joy to look after ..extremely well behaved, happy animals who made our Christmas housesit an absolute pleasure. We would love to housesit again for them sometime in the future.
SUE AND STEVE (Dec 2017 - 1 week)
No rating I thoroughly enjoyed my house sit in Steventon, looking after Bolly and Sampson. Liz and John welcomed me warmly into their lovely home and were good company as we enjoyed a meal together. Detailed notes were provided to ensure that things went smoothly but it was helpful to talk through everything as well. John kindly showed me a couple of the walks and also how easy it was to look after the chickens! It was such a treat to have fresh eggs for breakfast. Lots of suggestions were made for days ... MORE
VERONICA (Oct 2017 - 6 days)
No rating I thoroughly enjoyed looking after Bolly, Sampson and the chickens. They are such beautiful animals and always keen for a cuddle. Plus, nothing beats fresh eggs for brekkie! Steventon is a sweet little village and exploring the area with Bolly was good fun! Liz and John are such wonderful people. So helpful, hospitable and welcoming. I really hope to keep in touch with them and visit again soon. I could not have asked for a better house sitting experience. Much love xx
