Village 4 miles from Mold Wales

We are David & Helena - welcome to our home!
David is a retired University Art & Design Lecturer.
Helena is a retired mountaineer and Deputy Head of an outdoor education centre.
Whilst enjoying the freedom retirement offers, we are both very involved in art & craft - David is a potter and Helena weaves – our house is full of handmade pottery and weaving.
We live not far over the border into North East Wales, in a beautiful small village nestled into the Clwydian Hills, close to Offa's Dyke long distance footpath. Our village is a very friendly, welcoming community, with a cosy traditional pub and community shop. There are countless opportunities for walking and biking in the area and we are only about an hour’s drive from the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia and beautiful coast of Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula. And the beautiful, vibrant Roman city of Chester is only about a 30 minute drive away.
There are a couple of small towns within a 10 - 15 minute drive, that have all the necessary shops and amenities one would require. A car is therefore essential if staying in our home.
Aside from our craftwork, we both love the outdoors, camping, travel, our animals and our garden.
We have always had dogs and currently we just the one - a smart, quirky and very affectionate little collie called Flo. She loves walks and is used to a couple of walks a day - usually down local lanes, although she will run all day in the hills too. She is extremely loyal and has incredible recall, so is fine off the lead when away from roads. We also have 2 cats, who are pretty independent and tend to live outside most of the time. One of them actually spends more time round at our neighbors. Helena also has a beautiful, elderly horse, living at a farm just a 10 minute walk away. In the summertime, she will be mostly outside, so generally needs little care, apart from checking she is not overeating. Between November and May, the farmer likes to keep the horses in at night, so if we required a sitter then, there would be more horse duties.
We are a very laid back, friendly couple, with 4 grown up children. We both love travel and over the years have been fortunate to have travelled extensively to many distant and wild places. We love history, culture and the natural landscape, and have a deep respect for the customs and traditions of other cultures.
We have been members of Airbnb for a good number of years, so fully appreciate the importance of mutually trusting and respecting guests and their homes.
Our home is a modernish 4 bedroom, detached house, on a small estate, close to the middle of the village – 2 minutes from the pub! Our private garden backs directly onto a field. Across the back of our house we have a new veranda and glass-room, which is a wonderful place to sit, read and enjoy the extensive views down the valley. We have a large kitchen diner, 2 bathrooms and a downstairs loo. Heating is through an air source heat pump, with a log stove in the living room.
We feel sure any sitter would enjoy staying in our very comfortable, warm home, situated in a particularly beautiful, yet convenient part of the country. If you enjoy peaceful and beautiful surroundings, our home could be the perfect location to relax and explore the local area.
