South West - Cornwall
Adam
Needed: someone to sit a friendly male retriever/spaniel cross. He is full of beans and friendly - he is a people pleaser and loves strokes, cuddles and attention, but wiill leave you alone if you tell him to. He really is a lovely dog.
He needs one decent walk a day, so if you enjoy stretching your legs he is the ideal companion.. He is well behaved, loving, house-trained, and will let you know if he needs to go out. He can be a bit territorial with dogs that he does not know when inside the house, so unfortunately this is not suitable for those who would like to bring their own dog.. Sorry!
The house is a traditional cottage in a small Cornish village. It has a lovely big private garden with many trees, plants and fantastic views across the countryside, with wonderful sunsets. There are lots of great walks nearby and it is 25 minutes drive to the North Cornish beaches and coast path.
It's a rustic place, lots of wood beams, with a big wood burner and an Aga, also has a modern dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.
The house is in good condition - it is a lived-in family home rather than a show-home. It's a proper cottage: comfy and cosy, especially with wood burner lit. It's fun to cook on the AGA, or we can turn that off and you can use the normal gas cooker if you prefer. The oldest part of the house is about 250 years old and was originally the village smithy. It's built from local granite and slate, and there's a lot of history that I can let you know about if you're interested.
There is central heating, fast Internet, good Wi-Fi, a decent sound system and a big TV with FreeSat, Netflix, Amazon Prime and other apps.
We have a well-equipped home office that you are welcome to use if you want to work while you are here. There is also a home gym with rowing and weights machines, a bench and some free weights. You're welcome to use the equipment - please realise that it is home rather than gym quality, and is not professionally maintained.
The area is rural - we are "between the moors" - Dartmoor on one side, Bodmin moor on the other. There are many birds including owls and woodpeckers, and a population of hedgehogs in the garden. More foxes and deer than you can count.
The nearest shops and supermarket are in Launceston, 3 miless away. There are some buses but Ideally you need your own transport. We may be able to put you on our car insurance, depending on cost.
There is easy access to the A30 trunk road. Bude, Widemouth Bay, and the North Cornish beaches are about 25 mins. Tintagel and Boscastle are 30 mins, Padstow is 40 mins. Exeter and Plymouth and Truro are 50 mins, West Cornwall and Penzance about 90 mins.
We are away for 4 weeks , and ideally we are looking for someone to sit for the whole period. We will consider a shorter sit if we can find two sitters who can do back-to-back.
