We need a house sitter

South East - Hampshire

Polly

My husband Chris and I have lived here for 26 years. Chris is a teacher and I take in international students on language weeks and invigilate at the school where Chris works during exam season.
We live across the fields from East Stratton which has a great pub with very good food...15-20 minutes walk or 5 minutes by car and some lovely walks. Micheldever offers a great circuit in the fields behind the recreation ground and Micheldever Woods is 5 minutes drive or less. East Stratton has beautiful wooded walks too. Supermarkets - Sainsbury's, Lidl and Tesco Express are 5 miles away or so and there is a small shop in Micheldever village or North Waltham has a Budgens.
Our house has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, sitting room and conservatory. It is light and airy with a spacious feeling and a large garden with climbing frame, swing, trampoline.
We are one of six houses around a courtyard.. very cosy and neighbours are very friendly and helpful.
You can collect fresh eggs from the chickens each day!
Our two Whippets Willow and Bear are very companionable and love their comforts. Bear is 7 and Willow is 14.. so not in the first flush of youth. unfortunately she has kidney disease and has to go out very regularly. We have found the kidney care food has helped tremendously. Otherwise she is very keen to join in on walks and then sleep the rest of the day! Bear is very playful and also sleeps a lot!
Duties would be to walk dogs, feed, care for...not too onerous. We have two rabbits who live outside and don't need locking up at night but a change of litter tray, fresh hay and water and nuggets twice a day
The chickens need fresh water, access to mash at all times and some corn in the afternoon. They need to be cleaned out daily and visited morning and afternoon to collect the eggs.
Jemima is my daughter's hamster and requires little looking after.. Check water and food daily.
The garden needs a little water if very dry, particularly the vegetables, but otherwise it looks after itself.
You can take dogs for walks in the car or go straight across the fields outside and there are lots of lovely walks nearby. I NEVER leave the dogs in the car unattended so if you want to go out for a few hours (4 hours max) then please leave them at home.
Winchester is a lovely town with lots to see. Alresford is a small market town with some lovely shops and coffee shops. Chilton Candover has a walk with a coffee shop and Blackwood Forest has eco lodges and a coffee shop as well as nice walks.
