We need a house sitter

East Midlands - Derbyshire

Sue

Sitters required to look after our 12 year old collie cross and generally keep an eye on the house (bungalow) whilst we visit our daughter in Australia. An active older couple would be our ideal choice!

Meg is usually walked twice a day: two to three miles in the morning and a bit less in late afternoon. However, she's also happy with slightly shorter walks (the distance is as much to keep us fit)! She's happy to be left at home alone, but preferable not for too many hours at a time. We would prefer someone experienced with dogs as although generally very soft, she can be reactive with other dogs.
We live in a quiet cul de sac in a large village surrounded by countryside. Just a short drive from the boundary of the Peak District national park, and very close to the Derwent valley UNESCO world heritage site. The village has an excellent baker/cafe, independant butcher, hairdresser, post office, general stores, post office, chemist, Drs surgery, Indian restaurant, Fish & Chip shop and two pubs, Not to mention the National Tramway museum (when open)!

John & Sue responded warmly to my photos & msgs; & were very welcoming. I enjoyed exploring the hills & valleys around Crich with Meg. She is older, & is especially fond of pootling around sniffing every blade of grass. She prefers multiple short walks, with 1 longer daily trip mid afternoon. With many options, it never became mundane, & fit v. neatly around my work schedule. Meg (a rescue) is well known to local dog walkers, but loves people more than dogs. With a keen eye on conflict ... MORE

Thank you Gary! You've also answered my/my neighbours question about the length of walks - I agree that Meg is a dreadful sniffer of each blade of grass if allowed to be, so quite understand the shorter walks although she seems happy to be back to her usual longer circuits.
