We need a house sitter

Eastern Scotland - Scottish Borders

Sharon

Please meet ‘Our Crew’

We moved to the Scottish Borders (Coldstream) a few years ago with 4 dogs but kept adopting and fostering these gorgeous souls from Cyprus and quickly became ‘failed fosterers’

We take them with us everywhere including holidays, we never leave them and wouldn’t dream of kennelling them as they’d think they’d been abandoned again.

This year we have a few weddings coming up and historically we’ve went to things separately so one of us is always home with the dogs then I recently stumbled across this website and thought I’d put the feelers out.

Initially we are only looking for a dog sitter to stay at our house for 2 nights Fri 14th Feb through to Sunday 16th however we would be looking to arrange longer trips later on the year and have another wedding Sat 1st March we could make a weekend out of that too if someone didn’t want to stay just the 1 night. Both these sits would be for all our dogs but the potential longer sits in the summer would be for only 3 of the dogs as we have a holiday home near by that we would take the rest of the dogs to.

We are looking for someone or a couple to stay ours for the above dates, we use local secure dog parks so we wouldn’t ask you to walk them off lead when we were away (they are all brilliant off lead but we have one hound who is an escape artist so we’d book you into the secure dog parks we use) for shorter sits we’d be happy for you to just use our garden and can built up trust from there.

We live semi rural in between Coldstream and Duns (Scottish Borders) so you’d need your own car. We have a village near by (1 mile) that has a pub and the nearest town for shops etc is 4 miles away.

We have never left the dogs with anyone apart from family so this is new to us and would be important to find the right person/couple. The dogs are all friendly and welcoming with both people and other dogs, hence why we’ve been able to foster other dogs. Our friends and family all comment when they visit on what a great bunch of dogs they are, we also have friends who stay over with us and bring their 2 young kids who are 4 and 9 years old, they love playing with the dogs and the dogs are great with them too.

So the initial sits are just short ones in Feb and March however if successful we’’d be open to arranging longer ones in the summer and would only be leaving the 3 beagle girls at our house and would take the boys with us as wouldn’t expect anyone to watch them all for longer periods of time. If arranging a longer trip in the summer the person/couple staying could take in the area and visit the local Border towns, Kelso, Jedburgh and Melrose are all beautiful plus we are only 10 mins drive from the start of Northumberland and 25 mins drive to the beautiful coastline of Berwick and just south of there Bamburgh Holy Island Craster etc.

We have beaches just 20 mins drive in Coldingham Bay and St Abbs, one of Scotland’s best kept secrets.

If doing a longer sit in the summer we’d only be 25 mins away in our holiday home so near by if you needed us for anything, we’’d book you into the secure dog park we use close by and because we’’d only be leaving 3 dogs in the summer you’d be welcome to bring your own dog as all our dogs have had the snip as it’s a requirement when adopting a rescue dog. During the longer sits the dogs can be left for a few hours to let you explore the area and near by towns or you can even take 2 of them with you but we’d ask you to keep them on a lead and we have trackers for them too. They’re all very sociable dogs in public and are used to visiting cafes and pubs with us, our area is very dog friendly as are the local beaches.

If this is something you’d be interested in let’s have a chat and see where things go from there.

Thank you for reading

Kind regards,

Sharon
