We need a house sitter

Hello,

We are looking for someone to take care of our dog and cat and live in our country home in Northumberland while we are on holiday.
We have 3 double rooms and a single room available for housesitters.

Betty is 4 year old Romanian rescue. She is mostly a Romanian sheep dog. She is very friendly and affectionate but she will bark at you at the first meet until she quickly realizes you are a friend. We ask housesitters to keep Betty on a lead as she has previously escaped from kennels when being exercised off lead and they struggled to get her back. She is very happy and used to being walked on a lead in her harness.

Jack is a very low maintenance cat. He sleeps all day on a bed upstairs and then is put out overnight. We keep Jack and Betty separated as Betty is too excited for Jack. We will explain how this works when you arrive but please don't worry about it, it is straightforward to manage.

Betty the dog is a big softie who loves attention and affection. My experience with her seems to differ from other sitters as I was instructed to never let her off the lead as her re-call is not good. She loved her walks and was as good as gold in the car, so we were able to go to the beach and other places further afield. She was fine with smaller dogs but a bit unpredictable with dogs her own size. Betty and Jack the cat do not get along at all and have to be kept apart. Jack lives ... MORE

This was our second time house sitting at Jenny and Mike's. We had a fantastic time looking after Betty and Jack again. Betty is such a great character and kept us entertained all week. We appreciated the log fire on the autumn evenings and were very comfortable during our stay. The location is excellent for exploring Northumberland and Mike & Jenny are excellent hosts!

We had such a happy stay at Jenny and Mike's beautiful home. Betty really loved her walks and was so well behaved with other dogs and on the lead. Jack was also friendly and easy to look after. We really loved the location which is very close to the coast and a variety of walks. Jenny and Mike were so welcoming and left us with clear instructions to cover everything you might need as a house sitter. Highly recommend!

David and I stayed in Mike and Jenny’s home for 2 nights. It’s a lovely conversion of an old farm dairy…. Their dog (Betty) and cat (Jack), are friendly and have their own routines. It’s a great place for a peaceful, quiet stay.

I had a wonderful house sitting for Betty and Jack. They were perfect company in a beautiful location. Longhirst is the perfect place to escape the rush of everyday life and relax in the stunning countryside of Northumberland. Surprisingly Longhirst is only a short drive from Cresswell beach and other places of interest. Jenny and Mike were excellent hosts, with good communication and a beautiful home. I highly recommend Longhirst as a house sit if you get the opportunity. Thank you guys!

We had a very enjoyable stay at the lovely home of Jenny and Mike, situated in the stunning countryside of Northumberland, close to the wonderful towns of Alnwick and Morpeth, and only a couple of miles from the superb Cresswell beach. I had the pleasure in staying in Mike and Jenny's lovely house for a week at the end of Oct. Bety, the rescue dog, is adorable and very charismatic. She is only 9 months old so has a lot of energy. Whilst on walks she was well behaved and for such a young dog and would come back when called. She was happiest when walking and it was lovely to see her enjoying herself especially at the local beaches. She really is one of a kind. Jack, the cat, is very cute.
