We need a house sitter

South West - Devon

Have a holiday in rural Devon!
We are a married couple with no kids at home who have a rented traditional farmworkers semi- detached cottage around a mile from the village of Thorverton (with 2 double beds, 1 office/study,1 bath, kitchen/diner, lounge, garden bar and parking for several vehicles) We have a substantial garden with exceptional views and unrestricted access to the farm and land. The farm is a crop and cattle farm with 5 houses, several hilly acres and the river Exe running through it.
We have 3 dogs that are used to the surroundings so walking them is easy - just open the gate at the back of the garden and head off (no leads required). We have 9 year old badger who is lazy and greedy but so cuddly and Mollie a 10-year-old cross (collie and spaniel in there somewhere) who loves to run around the adjoining fields chasing the birds,, Mollie and Badger are siblings from different litters, we also have Maisie, an 11-year-old border collie, who is just the sweetest dog, she loves to play fetch and loves cuddles. We also have 2 turtles, who need basic care and feeding.
We have a lovely neighbour who helps us out when required and the dogs are used to being alone for short periods of time.
Thorverton is a lovely village with an excellent Farm Shop/Cafe 'Exe Valley Farmshop', a hotel/bar/restaurant 'The Thorverton Arms' and a traditional community owned village pub 'The Exeter Inn'. You have access to several coast lines in around an hour and all the normal tourist things that Devon has to offer.
The dogs need limited care and exercise and are easy to care for, they sleep a good part of the day and are fed once.
I am happy to send more photographs/video if required.
Unfortunately, we can't accept sitters with young children or cats/dogs and this is not open for paid sitters. It is also unsuitable for people with no transport due to the remote location.

The dogs, Maddie & Mollie made us most welcome, they let us take them for a lovely walks, feed them treats and entertain us with their antics in the garden. Thank you Di & Ian for inviting us to your cosy home and sharing your gorgeous dogs. We chilled out in your hot tub, your marvellous 'Badgers Bar' (amazing variety of drinks!!!) most generous and sat in your outdoor snug room admiring the stunning Devon views. This was a lovely house sit. The house is on a farm in the midst of the Devon countryside with lovely views across the hills. The two dogs, Mollie and Badger, are beautiful, very affectionate and just want to have belly rubs all the time. Diane was great to deal with and was very helpful whenever I had questions.

The dogs were lovely and really enjoyed their walks through the fields. We found using a downstairs bathroom difficult The house is damp so would not recommend for any sitters who have asthma etc -I have given the house a poor rating because it smelt of damp dog and therefore to get rid of the smell we had to wash all the chair covers and blankets The oven and microwave were not useable due to in grained burnt on food. I tried to clean the microwave but food was caked on the roof.The fridge ... MORE

Wow! I really don’t understand how you could be so rude about our home. All other reviews have been excellent. Not much we can do about the downstairs bathroom, we know the microwave needs replacing and as for dog hair, we have 3 dogs. I was kind in my review, although I found you to be difficult ... MORE
Such a lovely location and the dogs were a delight to spend the weekend with. The next door neighbour is such a lovely helpful guy and the local village pubs all so welcoming. Great communication from Diane, all round a pleasure!

We had a very pleasant few days at Di and Ian's house looking after the dogs (Maddie, Maisie, Mollie & Badger), the chickens & turtles. None of them were any trouble and the dogs enjoyed walking across the fields with me. The outside bar was an added bonus with a great selection of drinks. Next door neighbour, Terry, was very friendly and helped me with a chicken query on the first night! And Di kept in touch whilst they were away. We had a fabulous week! Di communicated thoroughly with us before and during our sit which made things very straight forward. The dogs (Maddie and Mollie) were easy to care for. Both were gentle and loving. They were easy to walk, without leads around the back field and their recall was great. Had a lovely stay in Devon! The dogs were a bit nervous to begin with, but after a day or so when they'd got used to us we were great friends, and would go for walks up the field at the back of the house and come home for snuggles on the sofas! Di was great to communicate with before and during our stay - always really quick to reply to any questions we had. The house and garden were great - in a lovely spot, warm, lovely comfy bed, hot tub... What more could we ask for?!
