East of England - Suffolk

Christine

Summerhere in Suffolk is a great time to visit! We have Barney, Barney is a cross between a pug and Boston terrier he is 6.
A delightful quiet 3 bed house, arts and crafts styled house, overlooking lovely Suffolk countryside. Some great walking areas, good local pubs and restaurants. Many are doggy friendly. Local shopping close by for those daily essentials. The lovely beach of Felixstowe is 20 mins away.
Cosy house with open fire place in the lounge and dining / second lounge area. Central heating too. Kitchen/ diner. Wifi, Sat TV, Netflix etc. bathroom plus a showeroom . Off road parking on drive. There is a secluded garden .
Barney has a very gentle nature loves other dogs and children. Totally gentle with both. Loves a good walk, hates rain!! Likes company and not good if left longer than a few couple of hours at most. He has no medical needs except his requirement for affection!
We also have a fish pond, no complicated maintenance.
This is an ideal location 4 miles outside the historic town of Ipswich, between Ipswich and the lovely country town of Woodbridge, with easy access to the Suffolk coast , and just over an hour away by train into central London. Ipswich offers theatres, 2 cinemas, and great shopping together with a vibrant Marina offering excellent restaurants and waterside pubs. Southwold, Aldeburgh, Ely , Newmarket and Norwich all within an hours journey.
We have had the house extended, and features a brand new kitchen and extended rear lounge with bifold doors into the garden. It also includes a downstairs utility and shower room.
There is off road parking. There is also an excellent bus service.
Please don't respond if you charge for your stay. I'm very happy to contribute to your travel expenses.
Warm regards.

I had a wonderful time looking after wee Barney for Christine and David. They were lovely to me and very welcoming. Great people who will go the extra mile to make sure you have everything you need for your stay. Barney was a joy to look after. Full of personality and so gentle. He loved his walks, his belly rubs and just a good cuddle in the evenings. I would definitely come back (if they’ll have me)!

LAURA (Sep 2024 - 3 weeks)

MAUREEN (Oct 2024 - 6 nights)
This was a wonderful house and pet sit. There was good communication with Christine and David before and during the sit. They were so kind to me and made me feel so at home - a lovely couple. Barney is a little bundle of love. He loves cuddles and walks and gets on with other dogs and people. He even avoids walking in puddles!! There are some pretty walks nearby. The house is lovely and there is a bus just outside the house that goes into Ipswich which is well worth a visit as is ... MORE

LAURIE (Apr 2023 - 1 week 3 days)
Christine and Dave,(+ Barney and the fish) are lovely hosts. They are very welcoming and relaxed. The house has a nice "lived in" feel and the garden is south facing and secluded. The fish pond is a nice feature with running water and the occasional jump from a fish..... probably only in summer! Walking the dog, Barney, in Rushmere St Andrews is a joy, The fields stretch from outside the front door. He is a great little character, we called him "the boss". We enjoyed this housesit very much.

JASON (May 2022 - 2 weeks 3 days)
Oh wow! Thank you, by the way we have renamed Our pooch, Barney the Boss, he seems to like it!!!
Really enjoyed staying with Barney for a few days, he's a very fun and sweet dog to be with (even with the snores!), and very well behaved. The house and garden were quiet and comfortable and came with everything you could possibly need, Christine was very helpful and communicative throughout and helped me get settled very quickly. They are situated in a lovely location for nature walks, I would love to return one day!

JENNIFER (Mar 2022 - 6 days)
Barney was a joy to look after. Sweet-natured, funny, and loved a snuggle. He snores, but Christine provided earplugs LOL. He also enjoyed a day out on Christmas and charmed my mum, who thinks he's adorable (he is.) There are great walks close by and Barney is excellent on the lead. A pleasure to have spent time with him and met his mum and dad.

KAREN (Dec 2021 - 6 days)
Ahhh thank you Karen, that was very kind of you. I hope everything was comfortable for your stay. Trust Barney to charm your mum, he's such a flirt!! Once again thank you so much for sitting Barney.
We made two new friends on this house sit - Christine and Dave are welcoming, friendly and fun and made our stay a real pleasure. Communication was great, the house is lovely with gorgeous views and the cat is great company - so easy to look after and very affectionate (on his terms, obviously!). Highly recommend.

RACHEL (Feb 2020 - 3 weeks)
Christine and David are a lovely, friendly and welcoming couple. On arrival we enjoyed a home cooked stew which was delicious and very much appreciated. Gerry the cat was a real pleasure to care for - he required medication twice a day which was super easy to give and he was a loving boy who liked lots of attention. The house is in a brilliant location for exploring the beautiful Suffolk countryside - somewhere I am lucky enough to call home. Thanks so much to you both.

LIANA AND MATTHEW (Dec 2019 - 5 days)
It was a pleasure to have you stay. Many thanks.
Our second time looking after Gerry. He was great company yet again and we enjoyed the lovely new extension overlooking the garden. Christmas shopping in Ipswich followed by lunch overlooking the marina was a real treat. Thanks for having us again!

JOHN (Oct 2019 - 2 weeks 2 days)
Arrived the night before the house sit and was welcomed with a lovely stew. We spent the evening together and it was if I'd known Christine and David a lot longer than a few hours. Christine bought me a tea in the morning and then a bacon roll. Their house has everything that you need to provide a comfortable stay. Bed was perfect with a view over the fields. Supermarkets are a short drive away. The sea is nearby and Woodbridge which is about 4 miles away has a great mix of mainly ... MORE

No rating Christine and David were great hosts, they really went the extra mile to make us feel at home, they invited us over the day before leaving so we could get to know the house and Gerry the cat. They made dinner for us and treated us with a bottle of wine. It was just like visiting friends. They have a cosy home in a charming area and they leave clear instructions and loads of useful information. We loved Gerry and enjoyed a bit of gardening. We would happily sit for them again. Thank you ... MORE
SONIA VICTORIA (Jun 2018 - 2 weeks 5 days)
No rating Christine and David were lovely and made sure I felt very welcome. Christine picked me up from the train station and cooked a lovely dinner on arrival. She had also prepared lots of information about the area and it was very easy to take public transport to get out and about. Gerry the cat was a delight! Really affectionate and no trouble at all. I highly recommend.
SHARON (Feb 2018 - 2 weeks 5 days)
No rating My son and l stayed in Christine's lovely cottage at New Year, and Gerry the cat was very good company. The house is right on the edge of lovely countryside and nice walks. There are some handy shops nearby and Woodbridge is well worth a visit. Can recommend this house sit and hope to return.
