We are going away for one week in May and we would like someone to stay in our house to take care of our pets - two cats and one dog.
The cats are brothers and they're three years old. Bruce is a ginger cat and is very loving and will curl up with your feet and purr away to his heart's content. Gunther, a tuxedo cat, is more reserved but will give you headbutts once he has warmed up to you. They roam outside and will get vocal if they are not let out. We unfortunately do not have a cat flap but we usually leave the bedroom window open for them so they can come and go as they please. This will not be the bedroom that the guests will use.
Obie is our old english sheepdog. He will have turned 18 months in May. He is a mischievous little lad but he is such a sweetheart. One look in his eyes and all your troubles melt away! That is if you can locate his eyes under all his fur.
We would like someone who is experienced with large dogs. Obie is very chill in the house but he does need to be walked twice a day. We would rather have someone who will be present in the house and who is willing to take Obie for adventures with them. We've had people look after Obie who told us that he is no bother and that he doesn't behave like a puppy because he is so chill.
He has no problem being left alone in the house during the day (we've never left him alone for more than 4 hours at a time), but does get a bit restless when he's alone in the dark. We're actively working on this and trying to train him to be better, but for this reason we'd rather have someone who does not mind taking him along on adventures with them.
If we don't find someone who is willing to housesit because of Obie we are willing to try to find other arrangements for him, and just have someone look after the cats - so don't shy away from this ad because of the dog :)
If you are someone who likes walking there are some great hiking routes here. The village is also just of of cycle route 72, if you like to cycle. We are very close to Hadrian's wall so you can explore that part of the area too (preferably you will have a car for this). There are also 4 pubs in the village and 2 convenience stores.
The village itself is very picturesque, with the south Tyne River running straight through it. It’s perfect for late afternoon strolls in the sunset!
Happy to answer any questions you might have about this area - just reach out :)
