We are looking for a caring and trustworthy person/couple to look after our home and three small dogs, Bertie a elderly pug, Edith a young Chug and Mavis a senior miniature Shitzu, who are all well behaved and enjoy lots of cuddles.
We have a stunning contemporary family home offering flexible living accommodation with many character features and stunning views towards the Brecon Beacons National Park. Our home is within the small hamlet of Lower Chapel surrounded by stunning views and some beautiful countryside walks, with Brecon only an 8 minute drive away. Brecon is a tourist town so there is plenty to see and do.
Located in the small village of Lower Chapel, a sister settlement of Upper Chapel. Lower Chapel is a hamlet in the Southern part of the county of Powys, lying on the Brecon road to Builth Wells in the valley of the Afon Honddu.
We have a wonderful abundance of nature right on our doorstep. From sheep and cows in the neighbouring fields to wild birds (woodpeckers, finches, owls & kites) that visit our garden bird table and soar overhead, to pheasants who wander into our garden each day, you really will be spoilt during your stay here.
Brecon is a traditional market town, the centre of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Surrounded by wonderful countryside it has a wide range of shops and amenities which include a cinema, theatre, leisure centre, library, Morrison's food store (with a fantastic selection of fresh fruit, bread, vegetables and meat) and golf course. With good access links Cardiff, Swansea and Hereford are all an hour's drive and the nearest train station is in Abergavenny which is 25 miles away.
In Brecon itself there are many tourist attractions; Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal Basin tour from the Brecon canal boat cruises (Dragonfly), Brecon Theatre and Pen-y-Fan (the highest peak in South Wales) if you're feeling energetic! There is a lovely boating lake where you can hire a pedalo and Llanfaes Dairy Icecream Parlour with over 100+ delicious flavours, which is a particular favourite of ours.
If during your stay you're looking for a fantastic meal out then try some of our favourites - The Castle in Brecon, The Griffin in Felin Fach and Llangoed Hall in Llyswen are all great places to start.

Plenty of things to do and see in the area. So many beautiful walks nearby. The dogs were delightful characters and very well behaved. It was a pleasure to house sit for Clare & Chris. Communication was awesome throughout entire process. We would highly recommend to all future house sitters!
Had a great 10 days at Cefn Honddlu, what a wonderful house. Spacious and airy, lots of natural light with fantastic views over the hills looking north along the valley. Great outdoor space in the garden with a large patio. Clare and Chris were lovely, communication was great throughout and the pugs were perfect companions, they play so nicely together and are an absolute breeze to look after. Would sit again any time I'm available, thoroughly enjoyed my stay!
This was our third sit for Chris and Clare. We were greeted with the usual warmth and friendliness on our arrival and were quickly introduced to the three dogs. Sadly, since our last visit, little Ethel had passed away but a new fur baby has joined the family . Her name is Edith and is already fitting in really well. It's always a pleasure to meet up and house sit for the dogs so we would highly recommend Chris and Clair to any future house sitters that may be considering helping them out.. ... MORE
This is the second time we have sat for Clare and Chris and their three furies, Bertie, Ethel and little Mavis. The dogs are so easy to look after, they love a fuss when watching the TV and have really gained our affection. Once again we had a great time and love everything about the house which sits in the beautiful scenic area of Lower Chapel. We feel we have become good friends with Chris and Clare, so if required, we would be more than happy to travel to Brecon and sit for them again.
Clare and Chris made us so welcome when we turned up at their beautiful home in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Our accommodation was perfect with stunning countryside/mountain views from every room. The dogs, Mavis, Ethel and Bertie were wonderful and so easy to look after, even walking all three of them on their leads together was "dim problem". Wow! What an amazing time we had in Brecon. Claire and Chris are absolutely amazing, super helpful and always communicated. The 3 gorgeous doggys will forever be in our hearts. Very well behaved and loving! ❤

We have just had the most enjoyable time in Brecon. Clare and Chris were so welcoming from the off. Such a lovely friendly couple who have a beautiful home in the most idyllic spot with stunning views. Communication was perfect, we knew everting we needed to know. Bertie, Ethel & Mavis are just gorgeous and such easy dogs to look after. If you like lap dogs this is for you, they love to sit with you in the evenings for cuddles.
