We need a house sitter

South Western Scotland - Dumfries and Galloway

Peter

We are a young Hungarian couple living in Port William, Scotland, owning an 8 month old (actually will be 11 month old in the end of September) wonderful, clever, very playful border collie.
As our relatives, including our grandparents live in Hungary, we would like to spend some quality time with them until we still have the chance as they are not feeling quite well.
We are planning a 1-week visit on the mentioned dates (2ndNovember - 8th November). We would love to have someone (one person or a couple is very welcome) looking after our puppy, walking him regularly, feeding him and spending a lot of playtime together. It is very important to know that our Aslan is reactive and fearful with people and a few dogs for now, please find a longer description about him below.

Home & location
Our cottage is located by the sea, and can be used entirely. We prepare a lovely little guestroom for our house sitter(s) which will also be their bedroom. We have everything that could be needed for cooking or baking so the sitter(s) can feel free to use our kitchen and its equippements. We also have a nice little living room with lots of windows and cozy lights. The smart TV has Netflix and other movie streaming apps. Our bathroom is equipped with shower and has a few beauty and bathroom products that can also be used. A washing machine is also part of the house.
There is a wee fence in front of the house which keeps our Aslan from running away too far and he can do potty safely.
A little garden can be found at the back of the house with some garden furniture. In case of nice weather it is lovely to watch the sunset from the garden as the sea is clearly visible.
Port William is a small little village with a little shop, a restaurant and a nice, quite long beach.

About Aslan
It is very important to know that despite the continuous training our Aslan became reactive to people, dogs and cars. This means that for now he barks hard in case of meeting people on the streets and tries to chase the cars passing by. He is not confident enough around other people. He is better now, but he needs to spend some time with someone to trust in him/her. We bring him to a dog school regularly and train him as much as we can day by day to show him that he is safe even if he is surrounded by others and things happening in the world is totally normal and there is no need to be afraid.

Taking into consideration this important information about him, it would be amazing if we could find someone who has a wee experience with reactive dogs and also will be able to meet us a few weeks before the actual sit so we will have the chance to slowly introduce him/her to Aslan and spending some time together before the sit weekly. He might also be reactive and fearful with the sitter at first, this is why have to be sure that he will be comfortable enough with a new person in our house. As soon as he feels safe, he is the loveliest dog who will cuddle all day and give you lots and lots of love and attention.

We understand his reactivity sounds hard to handle (which actually is for us sometimes), but in places he is not surrounded by any triggers, he behaves amazingly well, and he truly is a sweetheart with the people who trusts. In this one week the sitter does not have to do any training with him, just give him a lot of love and playtime. Right next to our house there is a long beach for walks, and just for a 10 minutes walk there is a big park that is totally empty most of the time so he can play off leash safely. The Galloway Forest Park is approachable very easily by car (half an hour drive) so you can take Aslan even on shorter hikes and walks in the Galloway.

No other duties are included, except for watering our little indoor plants daily.

Do not hesitate to ask your questions if you have, we are happy to answer all of them.
