We need a house sitter

Greater London

Joanna

We are seeking a kind housesitter for our friendly cat, Jane, and our dog-cousin, Zabaleta, who will be staying at our house for the festive period. We live in a stunning 5 bed family home in Highbury Barn close to Clissold park and Highbury fields, round the corner from Highbury Arts Club & Highbury Vintners.

About Jane, the regal tabby cat: She is 18 but still well apart from losing a little 'oomph' in her back paws. She has a litter tray in the cellar downstairs, so you will need to scoop the poo. She also goes out the back door to the garden. She spends most of her day sleeping in the sunny kitchen or all the way upstairs in the loft. At night, she sleeps in a closed bedroom with a litter tray and some food. Jane is on sensitivity control food (has been for 10+years) and sometimes throws up her food immediately after eating. The vet says it's nothing to worry about. Jane likes playing and interacting with her guests.

About Zaba, the adorable 9m old border collie: Zaba is well-trained and happy, and has lots of canine friends that he likes to play with off-lead in Clissold park every day. He is very well crate-trained, sleeps from 9-7 overnight, and can take breaks in his crate at other times too. Otherwise he is very active, and likes to accompany us wherever we go in the house. He is happy on the tube/trains, but gets car sick on long car journeys of more than 1h. Zaba has 2-3 walks/day and eats twice - a mix of kibble and prepared raw food. While staying at our house, Zaba may not settle down to sleep as easily, so you may need to move the crate to your bedroom to sleep.

Zaba and Jane are used to each other and, after a bit of nervousness, settle into respectful distances. While Zaba is staying, you'll need to feed Jane separately, as he is quite fond of her food.

Zaba will arrive on the 18th and his owners, Dan and Ana, will visit you and ensure he is settled in nicely.

This will be Zaba's second house sitting experience, and his first review was very happy with him (see photos).

From the 31st to the 4th you will move to Ana and Dan’s down the road as Joanna and family will be returning home.

It was lovely to return to care for Jane again. As I have said in previous reviews, this has been an excellent housesit, and everything has been easy and a complete pleasure. Jane is the dearest little cat, and the family are very friendly, welcoming and kind, making my stay a very happy one..

This was the second time I've looked after Jane, a delightful 18 year old cat. She has a sweet nature, and is very easy to care for. Joanna's communication is excellent, and she is always available to answer questions while away. I was given full instructions for Jane's care and staying in the house, which is a large, comfortable home, easy to manage and with lots of interesting art and photos to look at. The area is very easy to access, with bus stops a couple of minutes away, and tube ... MORE

Keith and I very much enjoyed this house and cat sitting experience. Joanna and Ed were very welcoming and easy to communicate with. It was a pleasure to have the cute little cat Jane for company. She was a very relaxed and friendly host. Thank you for the opportunity and privilege to be your house sitters. We had a great weekend in London because of you.

Thank you for asking me to look after your beautiful cat Jane again. I enjoyed my time with her very much, and your home was a very comfortable quiet place to do some reading and watercolour painting. Much appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for coming, Barbara! Jane Cat was obviously happy and healthy with your care. Thanks again!
I enjoyed a very comfortable stay in a beautiful home., and Jane, a cat with character. was good company. Although I didn't meet the family personally, I was made very welcome by a friend of theirs and given lots of local information. A super stay! Thank you.

Thank you, Barbara! Sarah was very glad to meet you - glad it was a good experience :-)
It was an absolute pleasure to spend time with Jane, a friendly, sweet-natured cat. Despite her 16 years she is sprightly and very healthy. Joanna and her family were extremely kind and welcoming to me, and made me feel very comfortable in their lovely home. The house is in a lovely area, with easy public transport, interesting local shops, plenty of eating places and beautiful parks within walking distance. Thank you Joanna for inviting me to housesit for you.
