Hello,

I am a retired public servant, 71 years old and single. I am also a dual national (Maltese Australian). I am financially secure, I don't smoke and these days rarely drink alcohol.

Over the last ten years or so, I have travelled extensively - mainly Europe and Australia - and when not in travel mode, I make constructive use of my time by bartering my skills and labour through a website called Helpx in exchange for board and lodging. Joining UK House Sitters is a variation of the same concept - another means of allowing me to experience a country and its people in a much more interactive and interesting way.

In the past, I've had a border collie, a dalmatian as well as three cats and four horses when living with my ex-partner on the outskirts of Brisbane. I give our animal friends the attention they deserve - regular exercise, routine feeding and grooming regimes - that all go to keeping them healthy and happy. Their care and well-being is paramount. They deserve nothing less.

I also fully appreciate that to be accepted as a house sitter by any prospective host is a leap of faith and I wish to assure you I take on that role and that responsibility very seriously. The trust you place in me will be reciprocated in kind - care and respect for your pets, your property - with a deep sense of obligation to fulfil all your expectations to the very best of my ability. I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Mr Rob Bonnici. He is very willing, hard-working, fit and able. He can turn his hand from gardening, hedge trimming, heavy allotment work, DIY, general maintenance and decorating to dog-walking, looking after chickens and house-sitting.

He is sociable and versatile and more than willing to muck in and get on with whatever is required of him. He is happy to both work on his own and yet also a good team player.

Rob came here for just a week and was a great help. He did everything asked of him thoroughly and to a high standard. He carried out fencing repairs, hung a field gate and took care of the horses. My dog loved him and so did the other helpers. Rob brought good humour, calmness, kindness and wisdom, along with great stories and photos of his travels. He's wonderful!
