Hello, I'm Rachael, originally from Glasgow but lived in the Cambridge and London area for a long time.

I'm an experienced house and petsitter, although I'm new to the Housesitters UK platform. I have been fortunate to travel a lot and house/petsitting has become an important part of that for me. I travel solo and I like to travel slow when possible, taking the time to get to know a place and appreciate life there. Caring for a house, pets and/or plants really enriches that experience, it's such a pleasure and a privilege to be able to see a place from someone else's viewpoint, and having some animal company can really help to make a place feel like home. Now that I'm back in the UK, I decided to look for housesitting opportunities here and hope to gain some new perspectives closer to home too.

Most of my recent sits have been in Spain and were arranged through another platform so I'd be happy to direct you to my profile so that you can see my reviews over there (or check the screenshots in my photos). I've met some great people through that platform, and I was even invited back to do a repeat sit which was extra special to be reunited with a very sweet dog after a year apart!

I work as a freelance consultant in the charities sector, so almost all of my work is online/remote. I find this is great for petsitting because I can be around the house most of the day and the pets get used to my presence, I think this puts them at ease and we form a bond quickly. In my free time I'm quite active and particularly enjoy hiking, so I'm always happy to take a dog for a walk and get some exercise.

I love looking after cats and dogs, and I'm confident with other animals too. I had pet gerbils when I was young so I'm happy with rodents (including guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, etc). I also know something about fish and plant care, both houseplants and a keeping a garden.

Non-smoker, vegetarian, tidy and respectful of people's homes.
