Reliable, trust-worthy house and pet sitting

49, Freelance writer/editor/proofreader

Hello, I am Phil.

I have taken care of pets and houses on and off for many years, for friends and family initially, and then through this website for a few years now. I have looked after all sorts of pets (frogs, fish, rabbits, chickens, ducks, etc.) but mostly cats and dogs. I have looked after big dogs, small dogs, lazy dogs, athletic dogs, young dogs, old dogs, well-behaved dogs, naughty dogs, clever dogs and the intellectually challenged. I have been in the service of lots of cats too, from tiny Tabby's to titanic Maine Coon's. I like animals in general and enjoy walking and hiking, especially with a dog for company.

I am reliable, responsible, mature, sensible and care about animals and their welfare. About two thirds of the sits I undertake are repeat sits, but I am available for new sits as well.

I work freelance as an editor/writer/proofreader after a career in academia/research. All I need is occasional access to a reasonable WiFi connection.

Please feel free to contact me and ask any questions. I am more than happy to chat on the phone, or WhatsApp/Skype, or meet if you are nearby (if you phone me, it may be better to text me first so I can add you to my contacts list).

Many thanks,
Phil

We are very grateful to Phil for taking such good care of our house and animals while we were gone. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats all with different needs so they are quite high faff especially as our 12 year old dog needs various medicines. Phil was very calm and capable and caring and took great care of them. He also left the house absolutely immaculate. Thanks so much again!

CHARLOTTE (Bristol England, Dec 2024 - 4 nights)
Phil certainly made an impression on Peanut, after 10 days with him she cried and searched for him after he left! It confirmed that Phil was a great choice of sitter. She was taken on daily walks, had plenty of cuddles and seemed more than happy with him. Our home was left tidy and Phil provided updates when asked to let us know all was well back home, we were able to relax and enjoy our time away so we are grateful to him for this.

EMILY (Bath England, Jul 2024 - 1 week 3 nights)
Phil stayed at our house for 2 months. He was great and took great care of the house and our cat. He is a calm, peaceful person with very interesting stories about life. Phill is also a more reserved person. He doesn't have a profile on social media and it was difficult to find anything about him on the internet... which nowadays, at first, made me a little insecure, however, before traveling we made some video calls with him and he stayed at our house for one night, so we could get to know ... LUA MARIA (London England, Dec 2023 - 2 months)
Phillip was a wonderful housesitter. He looked after our cat brilliantly and was a really good communicator. He left the house in great condition. He also helped us out with a couple of chores that we had not had time to do before we went away such as picking up our veg bag. Thank you so much Phillip!

LILY (London England, Mar 2022 - 3 days)
This was our first experience of leaving Nala & having a house sitter. We could not have been more relieved & happy that we had Phil to stay in our home while we were away. It made a huge difference for us & Nala to spend a bit of time with Phil before we left - he was charming & friendly. While we were away, Phil was easy to communicate with and kept us updated with messages/photos. When we returned, the house was immaculate & Nala was in good spirits & we could tell that she had been well ... MORE

Phil was the prefect house and pet sitter, who is welcome back any time! Thank you so much for coming to stay and taking such good care of Arti and the apartment x

CLAUDIA (Bath England, Aug 2021 - 2 weeks 3 days)
Phil was able to be flexible with our changing plans - we initially got Phil for a 3 week house/petsit which turned into almost a 5 month stay. He communicated well while we were away, the cats adored him and they were loved. Phil was great - our house was immaculate when we returned. I would recommend Phil to anyone who needs the reassurance that their pets will be cared for as his own. Would happily have Phil sit for us again.

CHRIZANNE (Potters Bar England, Dec 2020 - 5 months)
Phil is a very calm ,organised and well mannered person. He kept in good contact , replying to my texts. I returned from holiday and after greeting my Daisy, she went and say by him! Daisy was very well cared for, doing her medicine and food and responding to her requests. I wouldn't 't hesitate to ask Phil again or recommend him to do another pet sit. My home was kept immaculate and found it just as I left it.

JASMINE (Calne England, Oct 2019 - 2 weeks)
Phil is a great house sitter and looked after our pets brilliantly. He communicated with us regularly and kept us up to date. I would have no hesitation recommending Phil and hope he will be able to sit for us again in the future.
