Passionate Pet Care

59, Nurse

Dog and animal lover, country girl at heart.

My love for dogs stems from childhood days when we had a golden retriever 'Rex' as our family dog, followed by "Paddy'.
As an adult and in more recent years, I took ownership of my own first ever dog, the lovely 'Lara'. The combined mix of a Labrador and Poodle, Lara was very agile and quick to work things out i.e., opening doors! Lara eventually gained a devoted companion 'Chester', another labradoodle. Sadly, both have since passed away.

A change in my personal circumstances led to my move to Devon. Now working full time and being on my own, I sadly feel unable at present to have another dog.
Seeking house sitting assignments where I can have the opportunity to experience the care and companionship of dog(s) once again.

I can be available for house sitting during my chosen holiday periods and weekends, further than South West may be considered at these times.
If house sitting is needed during my working time, sits need to be based in the Devon region, where I am able to work remotely. Internet connection will be required to enable this. During my working time, I may on occasions need to attend my work base. I would not be leaving any pets for more than three - four hours.
If a local assignment, I would be happy to consider regular attendance/pet companionship.

Preference is for assignments where there are walks on the doorstep although I do have an estate car, and this can be used for pet travel, if required.

I care deeply that your beloved pets have the least distress during your absence and are supported to ensure their daily routines and comfort.

Previously completed City and Guilds certification in dog grooming at assistant level. This also included Canine First Aid.
Experience in raising puppies and associated training needs. Previously managed recovery from cruciate ligament injury and also treatment in an ageing dog with heart failure.

Experience in running a smallholding and caring for chickens and geese.

In addition to my work in health, I have worked in social care managing residential care homes and all associated property safety, and security needs.

I enjoy gardening and would be happy to include assignments with plant care responsibility.

Lorraine provided fantastic care for our elderly dog, cats, and 3 guinea pigs. Her attention to detail, such as providing extra shade for the guinea pigs during the hot weather, was very much appreciated. Her willingness to help us transition one of our cats to a new feeding system was an added bonus. Upon our return, our home was immaculate and our pets were very relaxed—the ultimate testament to Lorraine's care. We were kept updated regularly, and Lorraine was always quick to respond to ... CHIARA (Tipton St John, England, Jul 2024 - 1 week 4 nights)
This was my first experience of using Housesitters, and I was so very lucky that Lorraine responded to my house ad. She looked after my home and cared for my cat and dog better than I could have possibly hoped. The house was immaculate when I returned from my holiday, and the pets so contented. She had thought of everything to make the time they had spent with her a happy experience, and to make my homecoming so welcoming. I can't sing her praises too highly !
