Until recently we shared our lives with the sweetest fur baby, our greyhound Biscuit ❤️ We had to say goodbye to her last Christmas after a stroke.
Adam and I are both the mother hen type when it comes to fur babies and have decades of experience with our own pets.. We don’t take the responsibility lightly and we shower them with love whenever they’ll have it. We both have lifelong experience with having various pets, from birds to hamsters to cats to dogs.
The loves of my life, besides Biscuit were my rescue cats, Sookie and Phoebe. Both still own my heart, many years later. Phoebe used to sleep on my chest, and Sookie had the fluffiest tummy to put your face on. They were my babies ❤️
If you don’t count watching my parents’ dog Charlie on many occasions, I’ve pet sat a number of times. One was Tibby, a friend’s very shy cat, and it went exceptionally well. It took a full day for her to come out of her carrier box, that’s how shy she is. By the end of the week she slept in my bed - cuddled up in my arms ❤️ Heart-melting! I also cat-sat another friend’s fur babies for a few days in their home. Lilly and Sid were both rescue cats, one very cuddly, the other a bit more reserved. Both observed my every step to make sure I do everything correctly, and of course there were many purry cuddles between feeding times. Most recently, we visited friends in San Diego and watched their golden retriever Dexter for almost two months as they had to travel abroad. I loved bonding with Dexter, and there were tears when we had to leave him. Learning from this trip I would say, anything longer than a few weeks is too long for both pet and sitter, because it plays havoc with their and our emotions. The max I would now do for this reason is a month - unless in an emergency, in which case please do still reach out! We don't want to make a difficult situation worse by being judgy. Life happens - we've all been there.
The reason we're cat sitting is that we want to have a look around different areas of Scotland to get a feel for where to buy or rent next - whether Edinburgh West End will be forever where I want to be, or maybe there's a place calling for us we just have not discovered yet. Apart from Manhattan. That is undoubtedly calling us :)
Hopefully speak to you soon!
