Hello! :) We are Lauren & Fiachra - a couple from the UK & Ireland. We are experienced house and pet sitters having completed 20+ house and pet sits.
We are a reliable, trustworthy, and organised couple who work hard and like to keep things clean and tidy. We are non-smokers. We have both been fully vaccinated & boosted against Covid-19.
Both of us have lots of previous experience of taking care of animals and homes. We have been house and pet sitting for more than 4 years in various locations around New Zealand, Australia and the UK, as well as family and friends homes and pets too! We both really enjoy house and pet sitting and find it fun and very rewarding.
ABOUT US & OUR EXPERIENCE
Fiachra is originally from Dublin, Ireland however moved with his family to the countryside near Waterford city at a young age. He is very creative and skilled in animation, music and illustration among other endeavours. He is very handy with DIY/fixing things, gardening, and is a very talented cook!
Lauren grew up in the suburbs of Preston, a small city in Lancashire in England. She loves travel, writing, and taking photos, so she has a little travel blog which she likes to work on. Lauren is a keen baker and enjoys doing art & crafts and music in her spare time. Recently Lauren got into gardening and enjoyed taking care of her plants and home growing vegetables and herbs!
In both our childhoods, we have had pet cats, dogs, fish, hamsters, and chickens. In her younger years Lauren was a keen horse rider and regularly volunteered at the stables/farms. As Fiachra grew up in the countryside he is familiar with work on farms, tractors, ride on mowers, etc.
As a couple we lived together in Edinburgh, Scotland for 4 years. Lauren was a drop-in cat sitter for 1 year in her local neighbourhood in Edinburgh and really enjoyed looking after pets and taking care of homes/plants while the owners were away.
When we moved to New Zealand we started housesitting regularly for 3+ years. We visited Australia doing house sitting there for 2+ months before moving back to Europe. We are now in the UK.
In between travelling, house & pet sitting, we have been working as a management couple for hospitality businesses as well as working on our own projects online.
Outside of work, we both love travel, good food, watching TV shows & movies, listening to podcasts/music, reading books, and enjoying nature through swimming, hiking and camping.
WHY WE WANT TO HOUSE SIT / WHAT WE CAN DO FOR YOU
House and pet sitting is a great way for us to help people and animals. We believe it is much nicer for animals to stay in their own home while owners are away and we are happy to take care of them for you. House sitting also helps us because it gives us somewhere to stay while we are travelling and we can enjoy taking care of your wonderful homes/pets (we love animals!).
When you choose us to be your housesitters we can first have a chat over the phone/video call. At this time we can get to know each other and we will ask questions about your pet/home care routine and give you the chance to meet us and ask any questions. Following this we can confirm the sit and if suitable/preferred we can make arrangements for a visit to your home to meet in person before you go. For any face to face meetings please let us know if you’d like us to wear masks as we are very happy to do so.
While housesitting for you we will make sure that your home and pets are well cared for so you do not need to worry while you are away. We will treat your home with respect and your animals will have our full attention.
We provide animal and pet care including walking, feeding, playing, basic training, basic grooming, administering medication (oral and topical), treatments and minor wound care, cuddles and lots of love. We tend to keep up with your pets usual routine where possible to help them be safe, healthy and happy.
We are willing to care for lots of animals including dogs, cats, fish, birds, rabbits/guinea pigs/hamsters & others, chickens/ducks/geese, reptiles, and farm animals.
We are happy to provide house care and general property maintenance including pool/hot tub maintenance, mail/package pickup/forwarding, gardening, lawn mowing, plant care, and any other odd jobs that are required to ensure your house is functioning properly.
We understand it can be hard to be separated from your pets and it takes a lot of trust to leave them with someone new. We would be glad to keep you updated with photos, videos and messages about your home and pets during our stay to put you at ease. We usually do updates every couple of days but if you would prefer more or less updates you can let us know. We love taking cute photos of your animals so we really don’t mind!

Lauren and Fiachra were my first house sitters and it was such a great experience! They are lovely, kind, capable people and right from the first contact I felt totally comfortable leaving them to look after my house and little cat. They stayed in touch and sent updates and photos while I was away.
