62, Trainer, consultant and project manager
Hello, I'm Julian.
I'm originally from farming stock. I grew up as the eldest of 4 with a multitude of own pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guineapigs, gerbils, goldfish and tortoise. Worked on farms as a lad, and later with the local vet (alas, was thwarted in this first career choice by Mr Herriot's publishing success).
I have lived and worked most of my adult life in Europe (8 years in Italy, 2 in Germany and nearly 25 in Sweden) as a teacher, trainer and consultant, so often housesat and looked after both cats, dogs and gardens for family and friends in the UK. Am apparently considered highly responsible and diligent with, and around, animals and home spaces.
As a lone dad I brought up my only daughter in Stockholm and then a small market town in Oxfordshire until she realised her own dream and won a place at Oxford. She has now just started her last year in hall.
So with her set fair, for me right now my coming year or so is a transitionary period. I have an MA to complete, a temp position at Siena University coming up for mid Jan - mid April 2025, and everything else is kind of flexible.
Which means I use a lot of home and desk/kitchen table-time - and regular walks - my main and favourite physical activity, along with reading, working, and cooking. And a deep pleasure in looking after things.
Hope you find the right person who suits, and all the best.
