37, Registered Nurse ICU
Kia Ora! I’m James, originally from the North East of England and now based in Australia after living in New Zealand for 9 years.
As a Registered Nurse, I’m professionally trained in administering medication, making me the ideal person to care for animals with special needs. I’m thoroughly police-vetted and screened as part of my job, so you can be reassured that I’m a trustworthy person who will take excellent care of your animals and respect your home.
I have extensive experience caring for cats and dogs of all sizes, farm animals, and pets that require medication. I enjoy hiking, reading, cooking, and gardening. I’m physically active, regularly going to the gym and often walking for 2-4 hours. If your dog is physically able, I can provide them with excellent daily exercise. I’m quiet, enjoy my own company, and live a healthy lifestyle—I drink alcohol only on special occasions and don’t smoke or vape. I’m clean, organised, and reliable.
I grew up on around a farm in England, surrounded by a wide variety of animals, and have always had a strong connection to them. From a young age, I’ve been around family dogs, both pets and working dogs (farm and security dogs). I’ve raised two cats and trained two dogs from puppies, taking one through obedience school and dog agility school. I’m experienced in managing unruly dogs and using training techniques for both house behavior and leash etiquette.
As a nurse, I regularly prepare and administer medication to humans and have done the same for animals, including oral medication and subcutaneous insulin injections for both cats and dogs.
I’ve sat many friends' homes over the years and understand the importance of ensuring your pets are well cared for while you're away. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have to ensure peace of mind while you’re away. I also respect your house rules regarding pets on the furniture—while I love a cuddle, I’m happy to sit on the floor if that’s your preference!
As a travelling nurse, I don’t have a permanent home or base—I move around wherever the work takes me. House and pet sitting in beautiful homes while spending quality time with animals is my ideal way to rest and recuperate after a block of work. Being around animals brings me great joy, and knowing I can care for your pets while you enjoy your time away is something I truly appreciate. I usually work for three months and then take time off, which allows me to give your home and pets my full attention. My goal is to see as much of the world as possible while providing companionship to animals along the way.
