Guthrie

Hello! My name is Guthrie. I have experience house and pet sitting for friends and family, when they have been away from home. I’m a caring and thoughtful sitter of cats especially, highly sensitive to feeding, sleeping, and play preferences. I’m happy to play as much or as little as any cat prefers, and always open to a cat that wishes to have a knead and a purr and then curl up in your lap. Where cats require supervised outdoor time, this is also done with pleasure. I’m very clean and organised so any other domestic tasks, routines, or quirks that require handling around the house (most especially care of house plants) are part and parcel. And rest assured that I’m extremely mindful when it comes to looking after keys and making sure doors or windows are always secured and locked properly, whether for security purposes or to prevent pets being let loose unintentionally.

My love of cats started with Tiggy, a family tabby cat I had growing up, that I was very bonded to, and then a black cat, Luomo, after I left home that I loved and cared for through my twenties. People have always called me a cat person, as I always take well to the cats of friends, relatives, or the sociable cats one passes in the street. One of the great pleasures of life is to be curled up with a good book and a purring cat or watching them flail about with a ball of string or shoelace. Cats can have quite particular habits or preferences and so I am used to the flexibility and imagination required such that cats are cared for, fed, and able to explore, socialise, or sleep, in whatever way suits them. I have experience with cats that are free to roam outside with a cat flap, but also those that require supervision and to be brought back in or that live inside only. I also have experience with the maintenance of litter trays and administering flea and worm treatments gently and sensitively.

I love spending time with family and friends, catching up and talking about all that life entails, long walks in the countryside, as well as running and cycling. I enjoy cooking and eating out. I’m passionate about a wide array of music genres and am always expanding my growing collection of second-hand vinyl. I’m a cinephile, a photographer, and a collage artist, and enjoy nothing more than a gripping or thought-provoking book, preferably to be read with a purring cat on my lap. I love travel, especially to quieter or less explored corners of the world, and in the company of family, friends and loved ones.
