61, Senior Nursing Sister and former long-term Magistrate
Hallo & thank you for reading my profile!
I have been a Pet & House Sitter since April & am really enjoying it.
So a bit about me; I love all animals & have had a lot of experience of owning & caring for dogs, hens. a pet pig and "small furries" including rats, rabbits & guinea pigs. I have 5 years of experience of looking after nervous dogs as I have a rescue previously neglected Great Dane, Rose, & a smaller former Romanian "Street Dog" Snoop, rescued from a Romanian Kill Shelter. I don't ask to bring my dogs with me to Sits as they can stay with family.
Whilst I haven't owned a cat, I have also gained a lot of experience of looking after cats over the past months I have been a Sitter during my study sabbatical from my role as a part-time Senior Nursing Sister in General Practice. I have been a Nurse for 30 years. I am also a qualified Advanced Emergency First Aider. I love my work but am loving the break so I can Pet Sit and look after lots of different animals, both for friends & via this Agency.
I am a long term Ex-Battery Hen Rehoming Charity (BHWT) Volunteer in the Surrey and Berkshire Groups.
I am a reliable, very clean and tidy, healthy non-smoker who loves doing doggy walks in all weathers!
I am very happy to send Owners daily photos and little video clips of their pets and to keep in daily contact with them via Whats'app. This works perfectly for this and Owners have told me they find this reassuring & helpful, especially if they are really missing their pets. I have been told my communication skills, both as a Nurse & as a Sitter, are strong & that I am really friendly & approachable. I always respond to messages from Owners promptly both in the run-up to, & during, Sits.
Five of my families have become good friends & I have looked after their pets & homes on more than one occasion, becoming their "go to" Sitter which is especially lovely.
I am confident, based on my experience, at giving pets medication; for example, previously I have been asked to administer daily steroid tablets to two cats, liquid medications, eye drops to dogs and cats & injections to a dog. My human Nursing skills have definitely come in handy here as they have helped me to feel confident doing this.
I am happy to provide several strong Character References, including related to my Pet & Home Sitting, 20 years work as a Magistrate, volunteering in Schools & for Charities, and to my huge love of animals of all kinds. I am also happy to share some of the lovely feedback I have had too regarding my care of both pets and homes.
I am happy to travel to Sits; over the past months, I have looked after pets & homes in many different parts England, both town & more rural, & including in & out of London.
So do please contact me if you think I may be the Sitter you are looking for; I am very happy to tell you more about my experience of looking after pets & homes, & to send you References and reviews.
The lovely Owners whose pets I have looked after have typically told me they would like to pay my travel costs a token of appreciation. So this is something I now ask for but only if Owners live outside Greater London.
Thank you for reading my profile.
Claire
