Eddie is Scottish and Ruth English. We lived in Leeds for 15 years before emigrating to Australia where we lived for 30 years. We are retired professionals (psychologist and social worker), now full-time travellers and house-sitters (with England as a base). We have been house-sitting for the past 5 years. We've looked after dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, pigs, alpacas, donkeys, horses and reptiles. Ruth grew up on a farm in Devon,
We also enjoy looking after other people's gardens, house plants, and allotments and had a large garden in Australia, along with an elderly diabetic cat, who needed twice daily insulin injections.
We bring maturity, responsibility, intelligence and caring. We will respect the home owner's wishes, follow the routines they have established for their animals and maintain a high standard of care for the animals and house, We will look after both as if they were our own. We are adaptable, fit and active vegetarians, non-smokers and have a car. We're fully vaccinated against Covid.

Eddie and Ruth did a fantastic job house and pet sitting for us. They communicated really well while we are away with updates and photos. We came home to a lovely clean home and our dog and cats were relaxed and happy and obviously had been well looked after. Thankyou!
Eddie & Ruth took wonderful care of our groodle and house during their stay. They took him on lots of outings and walks, which he loves, and we loved getting regular updates and photos of their adventures together. The house was spotless when we got home. Genuinely lovely couple with great communication throughout; our dog adored them and we highly recommend them as sitters!
Eddie & Ruth were great, I got Covid when they were due to sit and luckily they we’re flexible and able to extend their sit so we could tack the start of our holiday to the end. They were both very easy to communicate with and left the house clean and tidy. We would hesitate to recommend them to others
Ruth & Eddie are a lovely friendly couple, who you immediately felt comfortable leaving your house and furbaby.
Blaze on first meeting can be over excitable and protective, but they had the experience and confidence in handling her, they soon become best buddies.
Excellent communication prior and during the stay, with photos to reassure us everything was okay.
Came home to a happy relax furbaby and clean house.

Eddie and Ruth are nothing short of Amazing. The are professional, courteous and above all else friendly and lovely. They are excellent at communication, are honest and we felt very comfortable leaving Halloumi and Daisy in their care. They both are very passionate about animals and this comes across. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. They left the house spotless and even helped nurse some of my woeful plants back to life! 5 stars all round.
Eddie and Ruth are better than family! They are 100% trustworthy and perfect in every way, I can't recommend them highly enough. They took great care of all the pets and left the house spotless. Great communication before and during the stay. If you manage to get them for a stay then you can go away knowing your house / pets are in great care.
We had Eddie and Ruth house sit for us when we went away to get married and they looked after our Labrador Willow, our 6 Ducks, 2 tortoises and a rabbit.
Their communication was excellent from start to finish and we returned to find our house immaculate.
We also returned to find our Labrador had fallen in love with them. She had an absolutely amazing time, Eddie and Ruth are clearly dog lovers and it was so nice to know that Willow was having a great time while we were away.

I knew from the previous reviews that Eddie and Ruth were excellent house sitters and we were delighted when they confirmed they were able to house sit for us for one week this October and look after our cats, dog Taylor and fish. Eddie and Ruth were excellent communicators and we were pleased to meet them the night before and to introduce them to our pets, show them around the house and get to know them a bit before we went on holiday. Eddie & Ruth sat for us for 2 weeks, looking after our elderly cats, administering insulin injections and thyroid medicine. They kept us up to date with any issues and we returned from holiday to find 2 well chilled cats and a very clean house. Thank you Ruth & Eddie
To say I was unsure of this service and what to expect was an understatement!
But 5 mins after meeting Ruth and Eddie I felt remarkably relaxed about leaving our house , garden and beloved pets on their care.
Communication was excellent throughout and their immediate understanding of what we needed was reassuring .
We were able to relax and enjoy our holiday knowing everything was in excellent hands.

Eddie and Ruth looked after our house and garden as well as our timid cat. The house was just as we'd left it and bedding was washed and folded for us. Eddie and Ruth are a friendly, humourous couple and I knew from our first couple of contacts that I'd be happy to have them in our home. We had an enjoyable, chatty dinner with them on the evening before we left. We'd be happy to have them housesit again in the future.
Ruth & Eddie looked after our pets, house and garden just as we would ourselves. They are experienced house sitters and we had every confidence leaving them in charge. They did everything we asked and our pets were happy and relaxed on our return. They were easy to communicate with while we were away and always replied promptly to messages, I have no hesitation in recommending them as house sitters.
Fantastic sitters! Really put our minds at ease from the start. We had some personal challenges not long before the trip and life had been really hectic, so an injection of calm confidence was much appreciated.
One cat is a youngster and quite nervous, so we were concerned about how he would react to strangers, but we came home to find him perfectly happy and content. We got an update each evening, which meant we could really relax knowing all was well without having to ask.

Eddie and Ruth looked after our two elderly little dogs very well and managed to come at such short notice. They managed to get the dogs tablets into them which is no mean feat
Our house was also kept very clean and I would recommend them to anyone. Hoping to get them back on our next holiday.

Ditto our best ever sitters, we came home for the first time to fitter leaner dogs. Puppy had been jogging with Eddie and finally managed to get a couple of pounds off her, well done guys . Eddie and Ruth house sat for a 5 day stint for us. We were very relieved that they were able to help at short notice, especially as we have a diabetic cat in need of insulin injections and two dogs in need of medication. They carried out all tasks that were asked of them and we returned to a fresh, clean house with three very happy pets. :) We would definitely ask Eddie and Ruth to house sit for us again in future if they were available.
We hàve every confidence in Eddie and Ruth as experienced housesitters. They took excellent care of our young rescue cat who has only been with us for a few months. Our house, garden and greenhouse were looked after to a high standard. They also made sure our nearby allotment was kept well watered. We particularly appreciated that they picked and froze quite lot of soft fruit which would otherwise have gone to waste.
We look forward to them coming to housesit again before too long.
Eddie and Ruth looked after my cat Tyra for just under 3 weeks. Tyra seemed happy and well looked after when I got home and the house was as I'd left it.
Make sure the garden and pot plants are thriving when you get back - get a house sitter.
