30, Primary School Teacher
25, Outdoor Educator
Hey there,
I'm Grace! I’m a Primary School Teacher, originally from Shrewsbury, but I've lived abroad the past few years teaching in international schools - including Spain, China and Thailand. I spent a lot of 2024 travelling in Australia with my Australian partner, Carly (he/him), but returned to the UK as my temporary visa expired. So for the past few months I've been back in sunny England, working as a supply teacher (hooray)!
I’ve recently been offered a job at an International School near Lisbon, Portugal, which will begin some time in January - we are waiting for the visa to arrive and it will take at least a month, but likely up to two.
In December my partner, Carly, is traveling all the way to the UK from Australia, for the first time ever (we met a few years ago when we were travelling in Thailand)!!! We are therefore looking to do some house sits, so it's not so intense in terms of being with my family, since at the moment I am living with them. Our dates are flexible.
Both Carly and I are huge animal lovers and have lots of experience with all kinds of animals - especially with dogs and cats. I rescued, fostered and re-homed two doggies whilst I was living and teaching in Shanghai. Being rescues, they required a very gentle hand, extra love and extra fiddly things such as administering all kinds of meds. Generally, I've grown up with dogs in our home all my life, I also grew up around horses. Carly grew up with chickens, cats and eventually dogs during his teen years. So between us we're prepared!
We have loads of experience house sitting throughout Victoria, Australia, when I visited Carly, and we loved every minute. We looked after dogs, cats, chickens, quails, fish, mice and even crabs! We also had lots of practice administering meds, both oral and even daily insulin injections to a diabetic cat. I have also got experience of paid dog sitting in the UK via the app 'Pawshake' - please see my reviews in our pictures. I have also completed a Pet First Aid and CPR course.
Carly and I love to go hiking, spend time in nature and cook healthy food. We're very clean and tidy and will leave your house cleaner than when you left it. We are happy to water any plants you may need (though for the outside plants I doubt we'd need to given this current weather!) - but generally we love the garden so are very open to any help you might need.
We know how scary it can be leaving your pet (and home) in the hands of someone else, as I have done this with my own dogs and apartment. We can promise we will treat them as if they were our own, keep the place in great shape, and keep you up to date with lots of pictures and videos!
Feel free to send us a message if you think we might be a good fit. We are happy to schedule a video call and if you're not too far Grace can come for a pre-meet before hand. We are also open to staying the night or so before you leave so the pets can get used to us, and we to the house.
Cheers,
Grace and Carly
