Hello. I am a walking-fit mature man in my mid-sixties with some experience of pet-sitting. I have always loved animals, particularly dogs and cats. My parents always had dogs and cats, plus other pets such as rabbits, goldfish, budgerigars, gerbils in my childhood and later, and possibly others I can’t remember right now. I haven’t been able to keep pets myself as I have rented my homes and pets have not been allowed.
I have very much enjoyed my experiences pet-sitting for friends, looking after a very fit dog over the long easter weekend in 2023, and for two rescue cats in early summer this year (2024). I also looked after the homes of my friends at the same time. I would like to do more of this.
I have a pdf file of the reference from my friend Sue, it was her cats I pet-sat for a couple of months ago. This is available on request.
I would treat any animals I am fortunate enough to be caring for with great respect, and follow all instructions from the owners on how to treat them. The well-being of the animals being my priority. Clear, written instructions would be much appreciated please.
I enjoy a good long walk, especially but not exclusively, in the countryside, so dog exercising is a pleasure.
I am very frugal in my use of fuels - gas and electricity - for both financial and environmental reasons, same with water. Also I look after things and tend not to break them, both mine and other peoples. I am a non-smoker. I occasionally enjoy a beer or wine but usually don't drink (apart from my decaffeinated Earl Grey tea!)
I love the countryside and wildlife - I am a member of my local Wildlife Trust - and while I would prefer a rural setting I would be happy to pet- and/or house-sit anywhere.
