Three years ago we took time away from our careers to decide on our longer term futures due to a life changing event in our family lives.
Our full time working lives had predominantly been in education, local authority work as well as administration and we have been fortunate to have been in employment all our working lives.
We both enjoy good health and are keen walkers, we occasionally run and are trying to improve and minimise our environmental impact, including cutting down on our meat consumption.
We like to think we are easy going and get on with most people that we meet.
Whilst not overtly outgoing, we enjoy socialising, meeting new people and have spent much of our working life with a broad range of individuals, groups of all ages, backgrounds and interests.
We are hard working, practical - including our pet care, maintaining our home and possessions, cleaning, washing, carrying out property renovation, decorating, DIY, garden maintenance, constructing fences and pathways etc. and basic maintenance on our car, small camper van, motorbike and bicycles.
In the last 12 months we have been working for a charity in France and also worked with Helpx hosts on a Scottish Estate and a large property with extensive grounds in Northern Ireland.
We have our own cat, Ruby (presently cared for by our son in Liverpool) and have experience with dogs most recently with a good number of house sits looking after many dogs, cats of varying size, breed, age and care/exercise needs, many chickens whilst on recent house/pet sits arranged through Housesitters UK. This has included ensuring the feeding, exercise and medication routines are carefully followed and also specific care instructions relating to animal anxiety.
We recently spent 2 months renovating a property in Liverpool. Our Helpx experience has included animal care, property maintenance, painting, decorating, plastering, gardening, cleaning and servicing airbnb properties.
We are particularly keen to broaden our animal care experience to include small farm animals as we hope to set up our own small holding in the future.
We enjoy change, variety, challenges, planning activities and also doing things spontaneously.
