We need a house sitter

South West - Devon

Emily

We would love you to come and enjoy our home and animals.

Our animals are really lovely, friendly laid back animals.

Aurora is a lovely girl who loves cuddles , toys and a ball being thrown for her. She is easy going at home. She loves a walk but will need to be kept on a lead. She is strong. She won't pull you constantly but may pull when she sees another dog as she gets excited and wants to play. With this, she may sometimes bark at other dogs, again due to excitement. She is fed twice daily.

Maisey our cat is fed with dry food, she has a bowl and it is just a case of topping it up is and making sure that she has water. She is very affectionate and she lives upstairs. She is nervous of Aurora and so she stays in during the day and then we put her out around 6pm and then call her in at bedtime, she will then come in and head upstairs.

Tommy LOVES fuss and attention. He will happily have you stroke him and cuddle him as much as you have time for! He needs fly repellent to be applied to him by rubbing it on his face morning and evening as he gets sweet itch (a reaction to midge bites). He will need his field poo picked, you can do it daily but I tend to do it every couple of days, nothing strict in timescale as long as it is picked up after a few days. He isn't fed but he will need his water topped up.

Great pet sit. Very enjoyable and great dog, cat and horse. The family are very friendly and social. It is an amazing area for countryside walking as well as visiting the coast.

MARTIN (Feb 2024 - 2 weeks 2 nights)
Emily, Aidan and Henry are a lovely family with a beautiful home in idyllic Barnstable, North Devon. They were really welcoming, down to earth and supportive in taking us through how to care for their horse Tommy, German shepherd Aurora and cat Maisie. Aurora is an absolute sweet heart of a dog and although strong on the lead, very well behaved. We went into a restaurant/pub for a hot choc after a walk on the beach and she was the biggest but best behaved dog in there. The house is wonderful ... MORE

ALICE (Dec 2023 - 4 nights)
Our house sit at Barnstaple was our first experience as house sitters. Emily always communicated promptly & the description given regarding her animals & home were accurate. We were fortunate to meet the family & have a smooth change over which gave us confidence. Emily's family animals were so easy & delightful company, particularly Ava the dog. The family home was a cosy retreat for Winter & the township of Barnstaple & surrounds made for an enjoyable stay! As an Australian couple travelling ... MORE

SHANE (Dec 2022 - 5 days)
Arranging to house sit for Emily and Aiden was very smooth. The ad described faithfully the needs of each animal. We replied to it and we talked on the phone and agreed to it on the same day. When we arrived on site, we had a day overlap which was very useful to allow a transition for the animals and learn where everything was to take care of them. The cottage is quaint and in a fabulous setting near Barnstaple and the countryside, perfect for long walks with the dog. Emily and Aiden take ... MORE

VIOLETTE (Aug 2022 - 6 days)
Our family had a great time house sitting Emilys house and animals. We were delighted to get to know doggies Ava and Anuk, both super easy going and easy caring pets. We enjoyed taking them for local walks as well as family trips both to countryside as well as towns. These doggies are unbelievable. Maisey, the cat, was a bit shy at first but warmed to us and let us cuddle her after a few days. The biggest concern at the start was Tommy, as we never looked after a horse. But is was no problem, ... MORE
