East of England - Essex
Abi
Do you want to enjoy country life in beautiful rural Essex, including sunny walks in stunning nature and open space. Or maybe you would like to enjoy visit the market town of Saffron Walden?
We are looking for either a solo person or couple to look after our cat and dog whilst we are away.
Thaxted is a picture postcard Mediaeval town in the heart of Essex slap bang between the lovely market towns of Saffron Walden and Great Dunmow. Thaxted provides you with all the necessary daily amenities so you don’t need actually to leave it; local stores, post office, dry cleaners, bakery, coffee shop oh and pubs!!
It is rurally located with endless field walks within 3 minutes of my house or more interesting forest walks within a short drive.
Our house is on the main road that runs through the town very close to the recreation ground and 5 mins walk away from the shops.
The house dates back to the 1600s but is a bit of a patchwork of adds on and changes throughout the years. It has a lovely sized garden and isn’t particularly overlooked.
It’s a lovely lived in family home with 4 bedrooms, 2 living rooms of which one includes a rather impressive inglenook fireplace and the other is so cosy you’ll struggle to stay awake whilst in it!! I know I do!
You would have use of all the downstairs space, the bathroom and the spare room upstairs. This room comprises of a double bed in the eves space, and a desk if you plan to work from here. There will wardrobe space available.
The kitchen also makes a good work spot as there is a large kitchen table.
You would be looking after my 1year old dog Lulu and Sooty the cat. They don’t particularly get along but have learnt to live with each other by staying out of each others way.
Lulu enjoys a good 1hr -1.5hr walk a day. Sniffing time is important not necessarily distance. Sooty is a typical cat - tells you when he wants to be fed or stroked and tells you when he wants to be left alone to sleep. He spends most nights outside and most days upstairs on someone’s bed. The animals can be left for several hours at a time so there would be time to explore the area if you so wish.
The garden would need minimal care - just a little watering if it’s dry whilst we’re away.
